Solid Surfacing

Solid Surface material is becoming more and more frequent in the carpentry industry due to the fact you can get seamless joints which cant be seen to the naked eye. Other advantages to using Solid Surface Material rather than solid stone, granite and marble, is that it is cheaper, you can easily cut, drill, rebate, groove and mitre it. Whether you need a Matt or a Polished effect they can both be created with the same sheet as the sheet comes with a Matt finish to both sides however you can polish it with the correct polish to create a high gloss shine finish.

Once the solid surface has been glued together with the correct solid surface glue it is a very strong joint, the solid surface is a very strong and long lasting material. If scratches or chips come into the surface for whatever reason it can be simply be repaired by sanding down the first layer of the solid surface making it appear new again.

This tends to be found on work tops, tops of counters and tops of tables as it is hardwearing, easily repaired and gives a very high standard/quality look and feel.

Sheet Material

Sheet Material

When the sheet material comes from the manufacture it is Matt on both sides. If you require a high gloss finish then this can be created with a few simple but effective steps. As you can cut, bend, drill, groove, rebate and many more it is easily used on a vast array of curves, units, tops. Offers a high end expensive look and feel for a fraction of the price of stone, granite or marble.

Joining Solid Surface

Joining Solid Surface

The joining of solid surface material has to be done in a dust, dirt and dry place otherwise the joins are not flush and they become viable to the naked eye. Here at Inovation we have a dedicated room and all the equipment to do this, which is why we can produce the invisible joins the clients require. Being able to join sheets and parts without seeing the join line means we can cover a vast area with the look of no joins.

Polishing

Polishing

Polishing is done through a few simple, but very effective stages which transforms the matt effect on the solid surface into the polished face which seems to be the most popular, although both look great. Once these have been polished they get covered in the a protective spray which prevents fingerprints and the surface from becoming static, this also makes it water resistant so water is repelled once contact is made. This adds more protection on top of the polish as well as keeping the face clean and dirt free.
